I bought long runners as well as these shorter versions of the same pattern. The short ones are much stiffer than I expected. However, the material should relax over time. I put a Cannon burgundy-colored towel under each one and the runners look great. The shorter ‘placemat’ version drape over large stereo speakers with black front covers– the Burgundy Lace look fantastic. Just the accent I needed.

These are beautiful placemats, and look very elegant, but be careful, as they are very thin. If you plan to set a hot coffee cup or plate on them, be sure to put a heavier solid color placemat underneath so it doesn’t hurt the table. I am very pleased with them. I haven’t tried to wash them, but I imagine you would have to launder then by hand in cold water.

I have an antique carved oak dining room table. These look perfect on it; in fact, my guests assumed they were genuinely vintage. Do note the size, as they are smaller than some placemats. That works for me, as I usually fit six place settings at a table designed for four.

Used these for some Victorian armchairs that were threadbare. Perfect size for covering the arms. Tacked into place with longer hatpins. Nice addition to some beautiful old chairs.
